International Charitable Foundation "NUCLEUS" was set up in October 1997 by Ukrainians and Bavarians (Germany) with the support of Ukrainian Medical Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Organic Disorders of the Nervous System (Kyiv), Kindercentre (Munich), Ministry of Labour, Social protection, Family, Women and Health care of Bavaria.

The main goal of  "NUCLEUS" is to promote the improvement of health care in Ukraine, to set up a program of prophylactic measures and treatment protocols to prevent retardation in children, to implement modern techniques of medical and social rehabilitation for children with nervous system disorders.

Main activities of "NUCLEUS":

• Setting up post-graduate training programs for pediatric neurologists, psychologists, speech therapists, rehabilitation and orthopedic specialists focused on medical and social rehabilitation of children with nervous system disorders
• Assistance in equipping the specialized centres with the modern diagnostic and rehabilitation equipment made within and outside Ukraine
• Promoting "tandem" approach (child-family-health specialist) as a model of medical social rehabilitation of children with organic disorders of the nervous system.

The Foundation is located at Ukrainian Medical Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Organic Disorders of the Nervous System.

The Foundation is a charitable organization and financing to carry out its activities comes from donations, from private persons as well as companies and organizations. Donations are tax-deducted.

Being a charitable organization, the Fundation has some privileges that allow it to bring into the country foreign medications and specialized diagnostic and rehabilitation equipment at lower cost.

The Foundation opened a hotel for parents and children from out of town who come to the Rehabilitation Centre to take a full course of therapy. Full board is provided.
